My Bio (As It Pertains To Fitness Training)

(Go to http://johnhoward.net/ for additional information about me)

I was born at a very young age on August 22, 1969 (now you know when to send a card!). I started to ride a bicycle and wrestle when I was six years-old. I learned quite a bit about exercising in wrestling and continue to use some of the different exercises I learned while I was doing that. I went on to racing bicycles in BMX (bicycle moto-cross) in the late 1970's and early 1980's and was ranked in the top 50 overall in Nebraska at one point in time and placed sixth in the 1980 American Bicycle Association Cornhusker National. I continue to ride my bicycle (for 25 years now!) and use it to do my commuting all year long (I won't ask you to do that though!). I also played basketball, football, soccer and baseball at the YMCA.

In high school, I was on the powerlifting team for the 1987-1988 academic year. I placed third at the Omaha Metro Powerlifting Championship (while very sick) and third in the State High School Powerlifting Championship in the 148 pound class and my team, Omaha Northwest High, took first place. I continued to compete in powerlifting after high school and in 1992, I placed first in the Natural Athlete Strength Association Spring Classic in the 165 pound class pure division (lifetime steroid free).
